Transmutations are performed at the Transmutation Altar; Transmutations explains how the altar works. The altar has five pads:

• two reagent pads (amethyst) — every transmutation uses both
• the input pad (quartz)
• the output pad (blackstone), which some transmutations use as a focus
• the Aequalis pad (diamond block)
